Title. I got 3* Zedd with Ares faith but still unsure whether should i yolo him to 5* or wait for another 400 gem pull.

Honestly, I would just keep it and re-roll later, as it is completely hard to get a hero that you want from a pull depending on your luck.

Imagine the day you want a hero that appear every single time on your pull before but you fused all of it and you want it gain

i'm also in that situation T_T
imo it's still worth it
lets take a look at zedd/elementalist
here's the difference in stats(maxed base stats as per gallery)
Ares vs Athena
ATK : 2530 / 1832
Def: 1221 / 1047
HP: 4188 / 4188
CRIT: 1745 / 1570
MAG: 2530 / 3577
with an ares zedd/elementalist i believe i can still do a decent amount of normal damage while building up the turns needed to dish out his skills.
i can then try to cope up with the loss of magic damage with runes/equipments.
but all these are just ideas i have since i've yet to have my zedd promoted.
tldr: i think any faith has its own purpose depending on what you need the char to do in your squad.

I'm sometimes at a loss too, especially when it comes to tanks. *Hey, I got a Zeus Faith Victoria! Ain't that great!? she can tank and all that due to her great defense and hp!* 
But wait! her MAG is weak, this would lead her to a possible insta-kill when nuked with a skill. However! When using an Athena faith, she can tank a skill with decent equipments
due to her mid-high MAG, Butttttttt, she'll most like get killed with mass criticals in Legendary; What I'm saying is that although you may have have gotten the "wrong" faith, that faith
can still be put into good use, and of course, it has some dents and all there, but it has its uses.
