Hi, I realised there is quite a number of arena AI guides here, but none have really answered this.
How does the AI choose who to target? One of the guide mentioned it is kind of 'random', but I am almost certain that there is an algorithm behind this.
My Vincent:
2926 DEF / 8876 HP / 1st row
My Freya:
2928 DEF / 9985 HP / 1st row
My Cybella:
2119 DEF / 7712 HP / 2nd row (25% reduction from ranged attacks)
As you can see, even after the 25% damage penalty, cybella would still be the 'weakest' target to hit. However, EVERY SINGLE round of arena, my Vincent is the first to be targetted (Seriously, every single round. No Exceptions.)
One thing I found out: If my Freya's def is lower than vincent, my freya would be the one getting targetted instead, (which makes me think that HP does not matter in the calculations at all). I purposely made my Freya's DEF higher by 2 points, and they will target vincent.
The problem lies with this: My Vincent is not fully trained yet. However, If I train him, my Freya will be targetted (highest DPS) and that will ruin my arena. But at some point of time, I will have to train vincent either way.
Question:
Have anybody really figured out how arena targetting works? I'm trying to get the AI to target my backline by dropping their DEF, but it still doesn't work.
