Skill damage<Normal damage

Fri Sep 02, 2016 5:53 pm

This has been bugging me for awhile now, but has anyone experience a scenario where skill damage output is lower than normal attack? I have a 5* Cybella, her skill damage is 250% of hero's ATK and when I used her skill on Lulu in the event, it only hits for only 1.8k+ damage. Whereas her normal attack can hit for 2k+ damage Is this normal? Is there something I am not aware of?

I suppose it depends by the defense of the monster (amor or level increase it)

It still doesn't make sense, how can a mob like Lulu take more damage from normal hits than skills with higher damage modifiers? It's like skills only take base damage into account and not with equipment bonuses.

I guess your skill damage is magic damage, so lulu's defense is based of her magic stats (she's a mystic, so it's supposed to be higher) ... your normal attack comes from ATK, so lulu's defense is based of her defensive stats (she's a mystic, so it's supposed to be lower)

would be my explanation ;)

You are right, I just doubled back to check the skill descriptions word by word. Seems that everyone's skill inflicts magic damage which only use different stats as damage modifiers... Oh my god!

Thanks for clearing that up!

Two points to note as well.

1. Skill damage could be either physical or magical damage.
2. Skill damage could be affected by different stats.
Champions/Archers by ATK
Guardians by DEF
Mystic by MAG
Thief by CRIT

So far I never come across any skill descriptions that says physical damage (with the exception of Vincent the Dragoon, but even his skill doesn't state it's magical or physical), isn't it kind of weird that all every job does magical skill damage? Makes it seem like MAG is the best defense against skills.

I guess it is intended to be that way? Otherwise it would be a pain in the ass to tear down a Guardian type class with full def build. But yeah I have yet to bump into many classes with "physical type" skill damage as well. Perhaps it is intended? HMm...

Many games usually follow the combat triangle Magic>Melee>Ranged>Magic (like rock-paper-scissors), VF is really unique in its own way... still loving it though.

so does this mean that for all chars.

normal atks = based off atk

while their skills is based off their cri/atk/mag depending on wads written?
