Just wondering... if one still cannot get any ranger (beyond a single RH Cybella) or Sven... is it possible to retain a 3600 arena ranking? I do have a WL Talissa and MW Ronan, thankfully.
However, seems every team I run into has a Sven Berserker by now and I have no answer to that 3-turn wyvern attack that is guaranteed to take out one of my squishies, even if it's parked in the 3rd row and has Faye/Teresa protecting it. Putting "of defense" gear or kratos faith doesn't seem to help... I am still training up a second Faye to see if that helps though.
I also don't have enough arena currency to buy an Aden (and am reluctant to buy a hero that is only usable in arena).
I have been using gems for premium summon as much as possible and still can't get any Sven or Matilda to date (still not enough Valianite either, or rather, used some up on 5* gear set completion/pixie on Talissa before realizing how important Sven is to the new meta). Just wanting to confirm whether I just have to be resigned to dropping ranks till I get a Sven. Am F2P on this account. Gear is a mix of mostly 4* and some 5*.

Do you have guardian type heroes? u can combine guardian with mystic in arena. make sure u use all rune slot, upgrade rune isn't really necessary, just do if u can.
and, unfortunately u take ronan MW, u should choose RM for arena cause aura and pushback.
use 2 guardian in front
ronan, talissa and 1 other position is up to your aura direction,
for other 1, u can use healer , mystic, or ninja
if u have no ninja, 1 of ur guardian must be CK, so u still get take middle point if u get second turn, (this is because u haven't RM) or if u want, u can avoid guardian type enemy if u not sure can kill some of them with talissa and ronan (and other mystic if u want) just in case u get second turn
if u want battle with full damage dealer enemy, just dont make any step, and wait ur mystic skill to sweep them all.

To take note, most of my arena heroes equipment is 4*,
even 1 hero equipment still not +15 yet,
u should consider about choose hero which give persistent aura to protect ur mystic.

Thanks, no second guardian that is usable in arena. I only have a Holy Defender Faye and a Blood Knight Darrion (starter valiant). Still working on levelling up a second Faye as Paladin. And maybe a Leon too.
Just got a Kai Ninja as well from quest reward, so need to level him up. But don't think can get either 2nd guardian or this ninja levelled up in time for this week. As long as I can survive the Sven wyvern attack, I can usually do OK, even if the other team has 2 guardians.
It's a pity one has to build heroes specifically for arena even though it's a compulsory quest in the dailies if you want the 15 gems daily. I focused my resources on building a PvE team.

Its hard to say if u can maintain 3600 coz there are many things to consider not just by knowing heroes u have. And players with Bsk Sven and Talissa still struggle a lot these days. Inner strength matters more. Having specific units will help but to a certain point. There is a stats wall lie await at some point in arena.
There is no need to build a team specifically for arena. I always focus more on pve units and the only hero i built for pvp is WL Talissa, and she will be the last one that i build for pvp. I do not use her anywhere else in the game except in arena. At the end, it depends on playstyle. Some loves pvp more than pve. Some doesnt care about pvp. Just do what makes it fun for you. As a person who focuses more on pve, i can say that it takes longer road to be good at arena (5 months to reach top 200 and no guarantee if i will last). So choose to do what u like, it will never be a wrong choice.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. My aim is not to climb the rankings, just to maintain that ranking for the weekly rewards. And was trying to get a feel for whether I was setting a realistic goal so as to not get frustrated.
At one time, Taiwan server was still new and most players were still gearing up (PVP was more fun then), and there was some event that gave bonus points for arena victories so one could climb easily. That's how I got to 3600 ranking.
I do not like PvP in general, especially in this type of game where the F2P and P2P populations are mixed. It will never be balanced, like you say, there is the stats wall due to players who are more experienced, skilled, determined, interested, luckier and/or willing to spend more money on the game.
I've managed to maintain my ranking (victories > losses), but at the cost of spending more time in the arena... Now I have to manual control + I made some tweaks to the formation and became much more selective about the teams I fight (I avoid teams with 3 summoners, for instance). Have to log in at least twice a day now to find suitable matches where I have a chance to win. Last time I could just use up all 5 arena orbs one go on auto and I would usually win most of them. There is always that unknown factor about the opposing team gear level and formation as well, plus luck factor for the aura procs.
