Hi everyone,
Razk here, as a forum frequenter and arena camper and after testing with the class for about 2 weeks, I would like to introduce this powerful class as a guideline to help you decide whether you want to upgrade your precious 5*-able unit to have the Chaos Knight at your disposal.
To make things simpler for now, I will be focusing on the easier to obtain character, Victoria, but please note that the Guardian Valiant, Darrion, can do similar thing with better efficiency.
Firstly, let’s take a look at the stats among the 4 possible paths for Victoria with Kratos faith,

From the above image you can see that CK doesn’t have any attribute that shine above the other, however if you look at her aura with in game description:
“Unstable Outflow
Persistent:
- Increase ATK of Everyone in aura by 12% of Hero’s DEF.
- Increase DEF of Everyone in aura by 13% of Hero’s DEF.”
What does this mean? It means everyone in her aura range including herself automatically gains ATK/DEF based on her DEF when entering any battle. This may not sound like much if you judging from her main stats, but what you prolly don’t know or not entirely sure is that, the aura buff is calculated with her base stats together with her equipment and rune. This will be shown in the image below:

Her base ATK starts at 2994, with equipments and runes it becomes 4677, and in stage with aura buff and Strike Tower (+350 ATK), it increases to 5873. So the ATK buff from the aura alone is 846.
Same thing for her DEF, the base starts at 4057, with equipments and runes, it becomes 7056, and in stage with aura buff and Shield Tower (+300 DEF), it increases to 8273. So the DEF buff from the aura alone is 917.
The good thing about this aura is, it will only get better as you upgrade your DEF rune and equipments, thus proclaiming the statement that says DEF scales better than HP for this class.
Together with her aura, we can see that CK is in fact the second tankiest class in the game after Holy Defender, and is actually the strongest attacker out of any guardian path available in the game atm.
Now, for her active skill:
“Destructive Nexus (CD 5)
- Taunts Enemy, forcing affected to target Hero for 3 turn(s). (Does not work in Arena)
- Swaps position between Hero and Enemy.
- Deals magic damage equal to 140% of Hero’s DEF to Enemy.”
Recommended suffix for equipment:
- of defense (should own at least one of this set for your tank)
- of trinity (this class can actually hit pretty hard with all trinity gear)
Recommended rune:
- best equip with Guard Rune of Defense only to make full use of her high base DEF
- second option is Guard Rune of Health for more hp or
- Guard Rune of Attack for more dps
With the stats and skill described, how does CK perform in our everyday task with her skill set:
The Gold Mine (Legendary): You have no reason to use a tank here, a 4* champion/shadow will do a better job. Swap doesn’t work in Gold Mine.
Rating: 1/5
The Capitol’s Last Stand (Legendary): She could work to tank the boss hit and buff the ATK/DEF for team, but still not advisable to use here since her swap could ruin your aura formation.
Rating: 2/5 (better than using 4*)
Legendary Stage (PVE): Her persistent aura provides extra ATK/DEF for the team making them hit harder and suffers less damage, but her active skill can mess up your aura formation and should only be used as a last resort.
Rating: 3/5
Future Boss Mode (Big Boss that cant be swapped, PVE): Her persistent aura provides extra ATK/DEF for the team making them hit harder and suffer less damage. Since her skill only deals damage and does not increase her DEF after taunting, other guardian classes look better. At the very least, she can be used to pair up with another guardian for taunt rotation when the need arises.
Rating: 3.5/5
The Arena (PVP): With the current meta about tile control, this is the place that CK can completely dominate. As the second tankiest class in the game, she can pretty hold out on her own without a healer. Her aura buffs nearby units for more ATK/DEF to help finishing the enemy/defending capture point. The active skill is suitable for a few different situations but is best saved for swapping with middle tile Guardian, rendering the latter useless for the remaining of the fight. It can also be used as finishing move. Most importantly, with CK around, you don’t have to worry about going second in the Arena ever.
How is the class better compare to the other guardian or the other popular swapper/displacement?
The other 3 guardian paths don’t have the ability to remove the tile capturer, and will need to rely on others to do it or move in first to hold the point. The CK can do both all in one move. You may say you can use a Grand Ranger to knockback the middle tile capturer and move your Holy Defender in, but that will take 2 moves and 2 units to do it.
Ninja swapper has shorter CD and 2 turn invisibility but it doesn’t have the tankiness the CK does and may get destroyed by AOE attack or as soon as the invisibility wears out.
Warlock sounds decent, but his skill CD is 2 turns longer, and every turn in the Arena counts.
Rating: 5/5
Last but not least, with the game design aiming for every job path to have a unique role, there is no such thing as the best class. Many strategies still works without this one. Nevertheless the Chaos Knight with his/her versatility and sturdiness, is definitely worth looking at, especially if you are aiming to maximize your win in the arena.
