So I just pulled 2 Kais. One with Hera and the other with Ares. I am looking to upgrade one of these to 5*. Would Ares be a better choice? for attack and a little of def. Or would the crit from Hera offset these advantages?

Since ninja skill isn't based on stat, It depend on what you prefer, high attack or high critical rate. I would personally pick Ares.

Ares for sure.. hera is too squishy for my taste.

And better save that hera for now. Who knows later you need another job, and samurai magebane assassin all of it is based on crit.
