I just want to stress that Watermill is extremely important for everyday progression. A max Lv. Watermill gives 72 energy per day (Rate is higher depending on Prestige Lv.) plus another 30 from expedition. It can be extremely helpful for farming event currencies to trade in the event bazaars. I would strongly advise everyone to get it whenever you are able.
What is the daily rate of the gem cavern if I may ask? I may be the strange one to not want the gem cavern. I was thinking about these setup.
Small : Wishing Well, Watermill, Strike Tower, Shield Tower, Mystic Tower
Medium : Armorsmith, Salvage Yard, Market Place
Large : Weapon Forge, Fusion Altar
At max lv, I'm currently getting +6 every 8 hours, minus the Prestige bonus that would be +5 every 8 hours. That would be 15 gems every day, it is the same from completing the daily quest. Keep that up and you can summon x10 3-5* heroes every month just by having Gem Cavern alone! I didn't even include the expedition yet, 100k gold for 10 gems with a wait time of 12 hours.

You're essentially getting premium currency for free, who wouldn't want that? You have to sacrifice either the Weapon Forge or Fusion Altar, you will hardly use them, the benefits of having Gem Cavern very far outweighs those 2 buildings, think about it.

Also, if you're planning to keep the Marketplace, you have to be sure you can keep up with their rates. Whatever they are selling right now is just plain daylight robbery, you might want to consider getting an Academy to help with your hero progressions.

Thanks for the insight. I think I can consider giving up fusion altar since I assume all the materials are actually farm-able, but just troublesome. Keeping weapon forge with assumption that I will get more spare 4* weapons as I progress even though collecting at a very slow rate.
I was thinking that the marketplace sells all the items from alchemy labs and many misc items, so rather than going the trouble to craft might as well buy it from marketplace.. of course it comes with a hefty price and I might not even use the items at all, just for collecting sake.
What is the academy rate at max level? Is it still limited to 1st class job keys or it will be upgraded to 2nd job keys?

4* materials can be farmed at the last chapter in Legendary and 5* materials currently do not have any use yet as far as I know. You could get 5* materials by salvaging 5* equipment anyway. So Fusion Altar right now is more desirable for its expedition rewards, at least for me.

The Academy at max level is still limited to 3* relics with a rate of 1 every 8 hours while the expedition gives 2 job keys with the price of 50k and a wait time of 12 hours.

I want to know what kind of expedition each building gives and what they give for each garison upgrade. Does anyone have info on that?

Not very complete, but it should give you an idea what to expect.
