I'm pretty new as well but the general opinion is that you don't need to bother much about faiths earlier on. Just consider based on the type of squad you want to build and your personal play style.

Blood Knight seems to be a popular choice for Victoria. You can also go for Chaos Knight if you don't have a ninja and want to build a PVP squad. As for Darrion, a full tanker route (paladin/holy defender) may fit better because he has higher stats than regular heroes due to being a Valiant.

Yes, they are usable specially if your squad still lacks the core role of a guardian.
