It does provide damage and a little bit or survivability against magic. If you don't have other options then it can be useable. Trinity is still best for champions. I would give wizardry to magebanes if theres not a lot of choices.

Ok.  But why magebanes?
Magebanes have high magic despite being shadows, so they can withstand skills really well. So they can make use or wizardry to more extra tankiness against skills. To me its like enhancing what they do best.

Furthermore, Magebane ultimate ability is not to "deal" damage, but the skill and aura that provide very good supportive role. And because of that, people usually have to use skill to try to take him or her down, which in turn make the mag increase viable.
But not alot of people does that i think. I dont have a magebane, so i dont know also.

Do note that if you're using wizardry suffix, do not aim for high % mag but rather high raw stats as it'll definitely beat out % stats for mag

If one of your "of wizardry" pieces has lot of ATK%, why not? I have I think 2 pieces which have 8% ATK each and I dont mind using them until I get a trinity one with the same ATK% :)
