I have Sven now. Should I use zedd warlock for fodder or no ?

I personally wouldn't since he's a 5* potential hero. But if you really have too many other 5* potential heroes then go ahead.

It's not uncommon for these types of mobile games to buff "useless" units especially if they have high maximum level potential (ie. MLB Lv.40 for this game.).

I want zedd for fodder because I have more potential hero to *5 and have a *3 zedd to build more
