Most P2W game ever? A study and objective comparison.

Hi folks. Having spent a few days in the CBT, I believe I have enough information to do a proper write-up on Valiant Force and it's cash shop mechanics. I enjoy the game very much but the P2W mechanics is quite ugly when compared to other mobile titles. Here's an indepth look.

In this study, I'll talk about the many levels of P2W.

Level 1: (Game of Dice, Final Fantasy Mobius, Tower of Savior) - unit

You only need to gacha for 1 'godly unit' to adequately dominate the game. Once you manage to gacha that particular unit, you're pretty much set. Of course, you might need multiple copies of the unit to fill your team but that doesn't change the fact that you only have to gacha for 1 thing.

Odds of winning : 1%

Level 2 : (Final Fantasy Brave Exvius) unit + equipment

Games in this level, even after you managed to obtain your dream unit, you still need to gacha for the unit's equipment to be at the top of the game.

Odds of winning : 1% * 1%

And finally we come to Valiant Force *drum rolls*

Level 4!! Valiant Force. Unit + Limit Break + Faith + Equipment.

A whopping 4 levels of P2W. Not only do you need to gacha for the perfect unit, you need to gacha 6 copies of it for limit break.

But wait! There's more!

You might need to reroll the unit's Faith for perfect stats which may consume a countless number of other 5* units depending if RNGesus is smiling upon you that day.

And finally we come to equipment. To be the very best (like no one ever was), you will need premium equipment and not only is this a huge cash sink as you gacha for 6 pieces of set equipment, this is also a direct violation of Japan's gaming laws that forbid the gacha of set items that can only be gotten through gacha.

Tldr; Valiant Force is the most P2W game that I have ever encountered. Mechanics like limit break and faith exists to drain players of their hard earned cash. Never have the gap between a F2P and P2W player been this big before and it's such a pity because this game is really fun to play. I really hope that the developers can remove the god-awful faith and limit break mechanics which would make the game more F2P friendly.

How do you fix this and make the game less of a blatent cash grab?

1.) REMOVE LIMIT BREAK. In no universe is it acceptable to gacha for 6 of the same rare unit.

2.) Reduce the star requirement for Faith rerolls to 4* or implement special, event-obtainable units that can be used to reroll Faith.

3.) REMOVE premium set items. Premium set items are a violation of Japan gaming laws and for good reason. Instead, introduce premium tokens which can be used to exchange for any of the high-tier equipments.

I have to agree. They took too many ideas from other games and made a very complicated system that requires LOTS of gold, money and RNG luck.

Regarding weapon, I think the potential(colour) is locked for each weapon. So you'll need more RNG luck to roll one with good potential. I might be wrong on this..

The equipment and set item system is already in violation of Japan's Complete Gacha law ( http://www.adweek.com/socialtimes/japan ... mes/525608 ). If you read up on the law, the law expressively forbids gacha is a mechanic to acquire set items. This means that Valient Force might get into trouble if it launches in Japan.

i think this part you got it wrong? you just need 1 unit of the same hero to LB to +2 level.
This is the same as 7K
And in most game, they dont allow you to take out equipment from hero. Even if they do, you need to pay gems or $$$ to get it done.

Yes you are right, it's 1 unit of the same hero and class to +2 levels but you need to do this 5 times to get your hero to the max levels. Which means you need 6 of the same hero in total for a lv 35 hero.

Limit break and valiants units are already presented in a game called "7 knights"

Where there are, ofcourse, 7 knights, that are best units around, with a gatcha spawn of the 0.3% on pulls, and like in valiant force, they give you one 3 star knight every month of daily check.
Like you know all this mechanics are already well knowns, and in valiant it seems they put them ALL togheter in one game.

Someone may say, "yes, but slowly you could manage to reach everything you want."
But i can reply: "Do you know how much time is needed for the F2P userbase need to get bored about being stuckor feel "miserable" in comparison of p2p players?"

Is a simple matter of time/fun/p2p mechanics equation

1. Which "godly unit" did you mean? I rolled 2 Valiants and still getting my arse kicked by well-equipped 3 and 4 stars heroes.

2. All items can be crafted or obtained eventually, as mentioned by an admin, just that those who spend get them faster. It is the age old question: Time or Money? If this is considered P2W, damn, I suppose all games are? I have seen worst games like Dota Arena which locks features and items unless you are of a certain VIP level.

3. Those who are looking for the perfect hero, and willing to spend, they can get the perfect one faster. Once again, all F2P users can also get free rolls to change Faith etc. Possible to catch up, just much much slower. Isn't this the same for all F2P games? Even for PC online games.

4. Again, all items and set items can be obtained in-game, just need more time. Those who pay will get them almost immediately, which is expected.

I think you need to go and play those casual games like Disney Tsum Tsum and not RPG titles. If those who spend gets ahead faster = P2W, there is definitely no F2P mobile RPG games which will suit you.

Actually 7 Knights have this similiar limit break system, where you should combine 2 very same hero to increase the level cap by 2 , and It really hurt to just want to increase it once, especially when you want to limit break the "7 knight' hero, which is more like "valiant' in valiant force

Maybe you should try playing more games that isn't final fantasy, many mobile games is more greedy though, fufufufu

Once again, is there a F2P game out there where F2P players keep up with those who spend in terms of progression?

What other F2P mobile collectible games have you played recently?
