Awakening and Capture-The-Flag

Dear Valiants,

You’ve heard the rumors, you’ve heard the buzz. You’ve known this was coming for the longest time. In one of our biggest updates yet, some heroes are about to unleash their true potential with the long-awaited Awakening!

Also, new features like the Capture-The-Flag Arena just keep coming! Let’s have a closer look:

Hero Awakening
Awakening brings out the true power of Heroes, drawing out abilities lying latent in them all along. This manifests in great overall power transitioning them from 5★ to 6★, and attaining new skills and passive abilities!

Q: Who can Awaken?
A: Potentially all those with a heroic soul has the power to awaken within them. Not all the heroes will awaken at once, of course! They’ll be released in small batches, to avoid a major struggle for resources. As for who will Awaken first….? We’ll leave it up to your guess. Watch out for our teasers!

Q: How does Awakening work?
A: Awakening has 3 phases - Awaken 1, 2 and 3. When each phase is reached, heroes will be presented with the option to choose ONE of two passive abilities. At Awakening 2, the hero further strengthens this skill.

Upon reaching Awaken 3, the heroes can learn a completely new skill! This could be an On-Spawn skill, a totally new Active Skill (which replaces the current Active Skill) or an On-Attack ability.

Q: How do I Awaken a hero?
A: A new resource is introduced to assist you with Awakening! Players will have to collect Awakening Crystals to boost your progress towards Awakening. There are two types of Awakening Crystal to collect.
  1. Universal Awakening Crystals
  2. Series Awakening Crystals
  • Universal Awakening Crystals can be obtained daily from the all new Master Tower of Despair! You can reset the number of tries each day and also benefit from the x5 drops on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays! The Universal Awakening Crystals obtained here can be used on all heroes.
  • Series Awakening Crystals, on the other hand, can be obtained by using the ‘Transmute’ function (Similar to Insignias). However, the Crystals obtained by this method can only be used on heroes from the same series (e.g. Series Awakening crystals obtained by transmuting heroes from the Camelot series can only be used on other heroes from the Camelot series).
It may take a while for your heroes to fully Awaken, but it will be well worth the effort!


Hero Multi-transmute:
Have many spare heroes clogging up your Tavern, wishing you can put them to good use? Fear not, for this feature has arrived!  

All Legendary Heroes (5★ Potential Heroes) will have at least one new branch added to their talent tree!

The new branch:
Allows you to Transmute Legendary heroes into 5★ Hero Ticket Shards You will require 300 of these shards to form a 5★ Hero Ticket, giving you a chance at 5★ heroes!


Capture-The-Flag Arena
A brand-new arena mode, The Capture-the-flag arena will bring previously overlooked heroes to the forefront! This particular Arena isn’t one which you can power through with brute force alone, because the match doesn’t end just by defeating all opponents. In fact, brute force alone wouldn’t suffice - You might see a notable drop in offensive capabilities compared to the usual arena, since defeating all your opponents is no longer the primary objective (Although this might change in the final version of this game mode). You’ll need to successfully capture the flag to win! This requires some measure of skill, strategy and the perfect lineup of suitable skills to ensure a consistent win rate.

There will be a 3-Day Long Calendar running when the Arena opens, to thank players for taking part in the week long event!

Q: How does it work?
A: As the name implies, all you have to do is to beat the enemy team to the flag in the center of the map, and carry it back to your team’s side before the opposing team has a chance to stop you. First one to do this twice, wins!

Q: How do I enter?
A: The Capture-the-flag will be soft-launched on 28th May! You’ll be able to access this mode by scrolling to the right in the Arena. This release isn’t the final version of the game mode per se, but a chance to allow players to preview this very different Arena before its actual launch. Of course, simply participating will qualify you for season milestone rewards!

Q: How often can I expect Capture-the-flag to happen?
A: As mentioned earlier, we will be soft-launching the feature on the 28th May! The feature will be open for a week, before transitioning back to the regular arena. Additional Capture-the-flag arena weeks will be announced, before we rotate it with the Classic Arena once the fine-tuning is complete!


The first step
These are but the first in a series of grand changes happening in the land of Arathos. However, the awakening of these dormant powers might foreshadow some great coming threat, for without adversity, there would be nothing to overcome…. right?

Really loving this upcoming feature for arena and hero awakening.

However, one major concern needs to be addressed again, which game session time.

This upcoming feature will once again add more game time to our daily grind; more upkeep, more everything.  I have already laid out a few suggestions to ease our daily grind burden.  I will review them once again.

1. Improvement in transferring equips, etc.  I had suggested a pre-save feature for equips, runes, talents.  for This probably takes the most of our time daily.  I think this is within the bounds of devs capacity.  This is similar to the caching system that was recently introduced for squads and most recently for expedition deployment.  I hate it most especially whenever conquest is upcoming.  Just setting up my warband usually eats up around 3 hours of my weekend.  Having that feature suggested above will probably cut that time to at least half.

2. Abyssal gate grind. The last update on abyss gate did not give us any relief at all.  My suggestion to improve it further would be reduce the encounter rate by half, but double the rewards given.  Fighting abyss gate boss starting at lvl 100+ can really test your patience, most of the time I just give up, not because I cant move forward anymore, but because its too time consuming.

3. And lastly, which I just suggested recently is to reduce raid 1 key to 1.  I believe this should be the standard for all upcoming raids.  Also, I think it would also be best to increase the HP of the raid 1 bosses further.  So that guilds will no longer have to implement damage cap.  Right now, doing raid 1 feels like a chore. No real challenge to it since you are forced to reduce your damage so that every member can have a chance to hit it.

These are just at the top of my head right now.  But overall, I'm really looking forward to hero awakening and new arena feature.  Keep up the good work.

What will happen to the existing limit break on the hero upon awakening to 6*?

Many new features are coming. Pls do not forget VF’s major greatness for consuming less time than many other games. That’s all i wanna emphasize

Job very well done VF team on Capture the Flag arena.  My only issue I guess is the overall arena scoring system.  I think scoring should be more dynamic.  My suggestion is to widen the range of minimum to maximum score for winning matches further and add more scoring criteria.  I believe by doing this, it will reflect better the real arena ranking system.  You can widen the scoring gap perhaps by increasing max score to 20 per match.

Hello everyone!
Congratulations for the work done with regard to the new arena. I admit that , initially, the mechanics had aroused in me a lot of misgivings. And also frustration ... saw that my team had not achieved good results. Then I realized that was not the fault of the team, but it was my fault: didn't have to kill the opponent, but act with speed and cunning! And once you get it, I finally did a fun team and can win often. Rank Expert on the arena had become really boring, always the same heroes, the usual trigger etc, but this is a breath of fresh air, and you can really indulge with new strategies and use finally even "old" Heroes! (uhh ... It seems that even Leandra can do something then ...)
Maybe some "edge" should be chamfered, but slowly you will be sure to make the battles more balanced in this way.
If the system of "Awakening" will be made fairly painless for everyone (do not overdo the grinding ...) then it will be definitely a great upgrade! ^_^

I would like to press this issue once again.  The game is already becoming insufferable in terms of game session time demand. Please fix this asap.  I just don't get it why devs don't put this into high consideration everytime you give us new game features.  I mean, come on, from a capitalist point of view, it's just common sense.  If you want players to spend more in the game, you need lessen the player's game session, so that they can have more time for their day job and make more money and spend more money in the game.  When the game is starting to affect your day-to-day quality of life, that's when players starts to seriously consider stop playing the game.
