You could give it a try and see how it goes.
Though I do believe that your progress will be retained, just not the contributions as they are counted by the 'green orb' item drops.
So if you cleared the Pillar of Unity till floor 25, it should still be floor 25 when you switched to a different guild.

Confirm that it will be retained.
Someone got kicked out of their previous guild and join my guild, they automatically continue from the floor they reach. But the contribution will start from 0.
And the weakening status of each floor in Pillar of Unity will become the one of the current guild..
ps. If progress start from the beginning, i would switch guild a 100 times

Someone got kicked out of their previous guild and join my guild, they automatically continue from the floor they reach. But the contribution will start from 0.
