I managed to clear legend once ( the left path and the boss drop only 3 teddy bears ) 2 Star trial is complete without priest class.....
I already gave up at this point.

Have you managed to clear the chest stage before boss stage? Or let them explode? 

Chest can explode? A hobo came and stole my chest when their skill timer ran out...

One took one of my chest, the other chests explode.

The chest that goblin took is the "correct" chest that contains many event items and unrefined gem.
If the goblin took it you will only get few event item from killing the boss, without the unrefined gem, making legendary drops worse than heroic drop(in the case you can clear all treasure box in heroic).

Infernal Gate isn't that bad, I would suggest tanking one of the monsters in the first wave to build up your skill timers before moving to the bonus encounter with chest, especially Mind Warders.

It's not the hardest thing to deal with but, the whole point of the stage is to get event currency which only 1 of the 5 chests. The chance of getting the right chest is very low ( consider how high its HP is, you probably can kill only one of them each run ), it kinda defeat purpose to run legendary difficulty.

Any idea what are the various items drop are for? 

the obvious one is the unrefined gems. Teddy bear, toy soldier, and the 6* skull?

anyway, I dont think i can get the 6* skill. I even got difficulty clearing the heroic with the chest, even with 2 5*. Need to know what team to build..

I dont know about the correct chest. I only ran 2 legendary run on the middle n right. On both occasion, in both runs, the 1st chest i kill drop gold, the 2nd drop event items. If anyone can clarify the full content of the drop in that chest wave would be great. The unrefined gem i get from the 2nd kill is 16.

The chests positions difficult champion formations, you can try to run Lancers and Dragoons to hit 2 chests at the same time but Berserker and WarLords attacks will only hit one enemy. This screams Shadow to beat those chests, and let me tell you something? Seraphina is a shadow that can get up to 400% on all her status... what a conveninence! Too bad I already did 40 summons and still not sight of her

Well ,im pretty this events needs you to use 2 Seraphina in her different jobs atm , as she can tank and do ungodly dmg
my 3* sera can solo heroic stage (those damn 3 heroes trial...)
The problem is , by the time I got her to her 4* form , the events will probably be over unless I spend cash to buy job keys or do more pulls

side note, pls nerf the damn boxes , its too hard to kill
